Weekly Chase: Sept. 28th Edition

This week went quickly.  New places to run, scrapbooking and hanging out with my friends this weekend.  It was nice.

Here's a recap of last week's goals:

1. Keep running! Yes! On Day 127.

2. Stretch every day and ice every day. Most days (I skipped the weekend).  My foot is better!

3. Make a silly to do list: which means add things like stretch and ice so I get them done! Yes! This helps!

4. Minimize social media: all the new TV shows are coming out this week and I love reading.  Social media often sucks me into a black hole and I hate how that happens. In progress.  :)

5. Continue carb cycling: I am enjoying this way of eating and nutrition.  And I've lost 3 pounds so far.  Yes!  I am down 5 pounds and really enjoying this process.

This Week's goals:

1. Keep running!

2. Stretch every day and ice five times in the week

3. Continue my daily to do lists:

4. Minimize social media

5. Continue Carb Cycling

Fitness Friday Sept 25

Look at me! I got this post done on time. Mostly because I'll be busy scrapbooking, playing with the cats, drinking wine and binge watching on Netflix (not necessarily in that order) this weekend.

Here's my week:

Saturday:  a nice run this morning (10:19).  The sunrise was gorgeous!

Sunday: I ran the Old Town 10K.  I was so happy with my run.  I ran the whole thing and my time was 66:28.  This is 1:40 improvement from July's Titan 10K.  I hurt my foot a little during the race, but didn't realize it until later.

Monday: recovery run (10:35).  My right foot was bothering me more.  It was Deena's birthday today.

Tuesday: this week is still warm (69 degrees and 75% or more humidity).  My mile was 10:20.  My foot felt better.

Wednesday:  my run was good (10:19).  I thought I was good to go so I did everything in Shocker Fitness-and then my foot screamed and cussed at me.

Thursday: We decided to run someplace different so we went to Bradley Fair.  It was so much fun! One mile loops x 3 (running mile was 10:42) and then we walked and windowed shopped.  I found some cute stuff!

Friday: better today.  My friend, Mandy, taped my foot.  My mile was good (10:22) and I walked the track during SF.  It feels better today.

Weekly Chase: Sept. 21 Edition

I had a great week.  The weather got a little cooler towards the end of the week so running was a little more fun.  I ended the week with a great 10K (more on that later).  And we all had a fun time at the State Fair Friday night.  I even got off work early!

To recap last week:

1. Run-YES! Four months done!!

2. Stretch and ice: I stretched some, but didn't ice.  And my foot/ankle complained loudly.  So I have to get this done.

3. Make a daily to do list: YES!  I did one daily and that helped.  I plan to expand on this.

4. Read: YES! I finished the book I was reading (Does this Beach Make Me Look Fat?) and have started another.

5. Carb cycling: for the most part.  I had a couple brief hiccups, but I got right back on track.

Here's my goals this week:

1. Keep running!

2. Stretch every day and ice every day.

3. Make a silly to do list: which means add things like stretch and ice so I get them done!

4. Minimize social media: all the new TV shows are coming out this week and I love reading.  Social media often sucks me into a black hole and I hate how that happens.

5. Continue carb cycling: I am enjoying this way of eating and nutrition.  And I've lost 3 pounds so far.

Fitness Friday Sept. 18

Whoops. Friday turned into Sunday. Oh well, better late than never.

Saturday: a beautiful morning. 58 degrees! Tami and I had a great run.

Sunday: a gorgeous day for a 5 mile run! I was proud of myself-we ran 11:06/mile average. I walked twice for two minutes each.

Monday: back to campus for Shocker fitness and extreme

Tuesday: campus run. Temps were getting higher and it was humid.

Wednesday: still warm in the morning.

Thursday: We have a new running friend (Mandy). Campus run was good.

Friday: it poured down at 0400 so I opted to sleep in and run a mile before work.

South High Wins Again!

South High played Heights Friday night. We fully expected South to lose-Heights is very good.

South played well and almost got a shut out!

Final score 16-6. South is 2-0.

Zoobilee 2015!

The day was absolutely gorgeous. Set up in the morning was easy and drama less.
After a busy day, Mary and I headed to Zoobilee. The perk of being on silent auction committee is we get in 30 minutes early so we've made it halfway through before everyone gets in.

One of my favorites: pulled pork sundae. Mashed potatoes and bbq sauce over pulled pork. I'm hungry just thinking about it.

Mary and I for a quick selfie!

The gorillas were charming. Dan got a great selfie with one of them. The other was sweet until he vomited up grass in his hand and then ate it again. Ugh!

Another successful Zoobilee.

2. Stretch: 5 days.  I'm getting better at this.

3. To do List: made them every day which was extremely helpful.

4. Read: working on a book.  Still didn't devote enough time this week to read.

5. Carb cycling: Yes! I started it.  Low carb days, I am a little more hungry.  But I made it through the first week and lost 2 pounds.

This Week's Goals:

1. Keep on running!

2. Stretch and Ice: I'm going to bribe myself to ice my ankle for 5-10 minutes a day.

3. To Do List: gotta keep this going.  I stay so much more focused.

4. Read.  I'm halfway through this book and want to finish it this week.

5. Continue to work on carb cycling.

100 Days of Running

On September 1st, I officially ran 100 days in a row.  100 miles.  I am impressed with myself.  I have run 7 (I think) half marathons, 3 full marathons, but running a mile 100 days in a row seems even better than the marathons.  We all know I'm not the most consistent person around (hence, I have started and restarted a diet more times than I can count).  Let's start with statistics:

1. Day 1: mile clocked in at 12:50.
2. Day 100: mile clocked in 10:10.
3. PR mile was 8/1/15 at 8:58
4. Ran my best 5K in awhile on July 4th at 29:52 and turned around the next week and ran a 68 minute 10 K.  While neither were PRs, they are much better times than before.

So what have I learned?

1.Having a daily goal makes my fitness level better.  If I have to get up and run a mile, I might as well go to Shocker Fitness or run on campus.

2. Running with friends makes this goal achievable.  Some days I don't want to run but I know they will be there so my butt better get out of bed.   They make me push harder.  My times are often better when we are together than when I run by myself.

3. It's good to go to bed early.  I have to get my mile done in the morning.  I don't want to think about it all day and I don't want to have to plan when it's going to get done.

4. I love running outside and without music.  I like listening to the world around me.

What's next?
Well, I'm going to continue my run streak.  I have no specific end.  As long as I'm healthy and not injured, I'm running.  I have a treadmill for the really icky days.  I'm also going to work on my nutrition.  I need to get a handle on my sugar addiction :).

Weekly Chase: September 7th Edition

Labor Day Weekend...oh how I love three day weekends.  I came home Friday evening, started cleaning house so I wouldn't have so many chores to do over the weekend.  Saturday we watched football on TV...I love fall sports (even though I hate that it gets dark early).  My goal this weekend is to catch up and relax!

But on to the chase.  I didn't post (or make) and goals last week so I'm going to start fresh this week:

1. Run: keep up with my streak!  I also started training for Tulsa's Route 66 1/2 marathon in November.  This weekend's schedule is 5 miles.

2. Stretch:  I do well on Shocker Fit days, but not other days of the week.  My ankle is bothering me and I know I need to stretch more and ice my ankle a few days in the week.

3. Read: I've been slacking on the reading train.  This is my mental refuge. I started two books-not impressed with either so I'm going to pick a fun and easy  book to read.

4. Journal/to do lists:  this helps keep me focused.

5. Carb cycling:  I've decided to give this a try and see if it helps me in my weight loss journey.  I've gotten the running/exercise part down...now I need to work on my nutrition.

Have a great week everyone!!

Fitness Friday: Sept 4

So I'm late posting this. The week was crazy. I'm not even sure why it was crazy, but it was. I have a nice three day weekend to recoup. So here's my posts from last week.

Saturday: a nice run with my friends (9:43)

Sunday: by myself. I didn't feel good this day but got my mile in.

Monday: shocker fitness and extreme after our mile (9:15).

Tuesday: we hit 100 days of running!! Tami, Deena and I ran a mile (10:10), walked a mile and headed to DD for breakfast and laughs.

Wednesday: mile (10:08) and Shocker Fit and extreme.

Thursday: Lucy kept me up and I missed running with my friends so it was a quick mile (10:50) before work.

Friday: mile (10:02) and SF and extreme. Our photo was horrible! We laughed so hard at it!
