Camp Council Grove

This year, we found a new place to camp. Partly because we lost our spot at Fall River, partly we wanted someplace new. After scouring the website, we picked Council Grove. It's a little less than 2 hours from Doodah and it was a very pretty drive. We got to CG around 3:30 Friday afternoon, set up our tents and got out the food and set out to enjoy the weekend. Our campsite wasn't far from the water. We had beautiful sunsets (I'm sure the sunrises were nice...I was sleeping then). The first night we walked to the shore and the kids threw in rocks. L had a great time tossing in rocks.
We lit a fire to hang out in the dark and fix smores (a necessity when camping). The kids love to roast marshmellows.
Kam stole L's goggles.
The second night, we had smores with Reeses PB cups, which IMO, are the best way to have smores. Dan made it better by adding a banana to make an Elvis smore. Yummmmyy!
Our tent which was hidden under a tree and in view of the water.
L got this HUGE moth! She walks up to me and says, "look what I found". She shocked both Jeff and I. And to my surprise, she let it go without a fight.
On Sunday, the dads and kids went fishing. L caught a 6 inch walleye (sorry, I wasn't there to catch a picture). She petted it a couple times and tossed it back.
And after all that playing, sometimes you get really tired.
L HATES watermelon. Until she tried it....and now she LIKES it! Go figure!
What a weekend. And no one got sunburns. It was beautiful to hang out with friends in such a pretty place.

VIsitors!

Last night, we had visitors. Uncle John and Aunt Rita came over to see our new house. We see Uncle John periodically and he had said a few days before that he needed to get his "L" time in. I hadn't seen Aunt Rita since our wedding (12 years tomorrow). It was great to see them both, talk about what's going on with them and hear old stories. L had a great time playing with Uncle John, who she says is just like Grandpa Ed. Too funny!

End of the School Year

I feel bad that I haven't blogged this month. Life is not real exciting at this time but it's busy. May for teachers tends to be a busy time. Meetings, last paper to print, get the yearbook together, senior breakfast, more meetings...it's all I can do to keep track of it. Hopefully in the next few weeks, I'll have more to blog. In the next 2 weeks, Jeff will have gone to Texoma fishing, we'll have gone to HS graduation, camping, and L's dance recital. Then summer can officially start!

Our New Toy

So what do you do if you aren't ready to spend tons of money on a swimming pool, but want something fun outside? You buy a TRAMPOLINE!
Luckily, they have come down in price over the years and are now affordable. All 3 of us have wanted one for awhile, but we've been waiting until the times is right. So on a cloudy and drizzly Saturday, we put it up. Jeff read the instructions thoroughly. L tried her best to be patient (and she actually was).
It took us a couple hours to put it together. It wasn't hard...just a process. It's 15 feet and plenty big enough. I know we will have lots of fun this summer.
A few pictures before the safety net went on. I needed some clear pictures but there was no way we'd have a trampoline without a net. We had fun jumping on it.
L had a great time bouncing. Now that the net is up, she's not afraid to jump and bounce.
