Friday Night Fun

Tonight, I reminisced my high school life by going to a Wichita South football game. They played Dodge City. So you get the picture, our school:new coach, previous years lost lots of games, their school #4 in the state. But South played better as the game went on. When we left (8 min in the 4th) D.C. was up 47 to 13. It was hilarious to hear the kids say "Hi, Mr. Welch". L had fun climbing up and down the stairs and throwing pistachio shells. The night was beautiful and the crowd was tame.

I am always looking for new ways to challenge myself. I was thinking about my blog and how I go too many days without blogging. But then I realized that I've blogged 15 times this month, which isn't horrible. So my goal for Sept. is 22 blogs with 1/2 of them with pics.

Speaking of challenges, I am done with 4 weeks of my 10 week workout challenge. This week I was stupid, I did it in four days. Sunday: 45 walking, Monday: weights in the am, 60 min walking in the pm, Tues: walked 30 min, Thurs: weights. Too much exercise in too few days.

****
At book club Thursday, we played a game called Highs and Lows. Tell your high and low of the day. This made for some interesting conversation. I'll definitely be included some of this in future blogs.

Have a safe Labor Day weekend!

Melissa & Joe's

Melissa and Joe were married in Vegas on 7-7-07. Today, they had their wedding reception at a local bar. It was great. The food was delicious and the cake...red velvet, of course!! We had a great time visiting with everyone and admiring Melissa's scrapbook of their wedding.

This is what Joe and Melissa were really wearing to the reception (see Maria's blog for the fake pic)

Weekend new updates

This weekend we stayed around home. We saw Split Lip Rayfield and Revered Horton Heat at the Cotillion Friday night. The shows were great. This was the first show for Split Lip since their lead singer died and they did a great job. I think most of the people went to see them. Revered was great!! I had never heard them. Think Johnny Cash meets the Stray Cats and the Revered looks like the skinny version of Randy Smithson (old WSU coach for those who don't live here). They played until 12:20 AM. The only bad part....the Cotillion reeked of smoke. I think everyone except our small group was smoking. ICK!!!!

****

Yesterday we spent an hour outside blowing bubbles. Yes, you heard me correctly. L got bubbles and 15 different wands to blow bubbles. Now she has figured out how to use them so we had a great time. Luckily it wasn't so hot. We also went for a bike ride last night. Had a great time. L got a little bored and laid her head on the hand rails. What a funny girl!!!

Off to work! Have a great day!

Summer days

This summer has flown by. And the weather hasn't been great. It was either raining or really, really hot. But this week, we took the opportunity to hang outside (and mostly avoided the mosquitos). L and I posed in our pretty dresses, then she enjoyed a Schwan's ice cream treat. Can't believe August is almost over.

First Day of School

The new kid on the block...Jeff's first day of school was uneventful and busy. Everyone comments how nice his room is...I think he wishes the a/c worked a little better. I'm so proud of him for changing careers!

Pump it Up (aka legal kiddie crack)

L was invited to Brett and Casey's birthday party at Pump it Up. For you novices, it's a room full of inflatables. L was very leary (think clinging to my leg) in the beginning, but after Jeff made her go down the slide, she was better. Although there are 4 inflatables, she spent the better part of an hour playing in the toy car (go figure). She had a couple mini meltdowns when she had to share, but then got distracted by going on the slide. Which she LOVES!!!! I think she and Jeff went down the slide 10+ times. She climbed up the stairs by herself and slide down by herself. She was hooked!!! Next came cake and ice cream and then we left. After a couple minutes, L says "mommy, I'm not tired". But in less than 5 minutes, she was out.

Thursday updates

Well, the week is almost over and it's flown by. Here's a list of updates:

*L said tonight when she tasted a root beer sucker "Oh, ick! This tastes like poop!" I didn't dare ask how she knows what poop tastes like.

*Jaime was right. A card reader has changed my life. I love it!!

*I went on vacation last week and didn't gain a pound!

*So far this week, I have done two cardio workouts. Tonight I'll do weights, tomorrow swim, Sat. weights. Jill's been doing great this week on our workout challenge.

*My father-in-law is going to have a prostectomy tomorrow. Please give him good vibes!

*This weekend we're going to a birthday party at Pump it Up. Never been there, but it sounds like fun.

My daytime abode

I thought I'd share a little about my day. I'm a physician assistant and see pediatric patients. I spend a lot of my time in patient rooms, but a fair share is in my office. Today, my room is pretty organized (thanks to Mary!). Some days it looks like World War III and a tornado ran through it. I have to sign charts, review charts, and do some triage calls (more charts in my office). But I love my job and I love my office. The walls...well they are painted and then feather dusted in the same color but shiny. It's beautiful.

California

This year our trip to California was a short one. With Jeff's new job and new teacher orientation Friday and Monday, we couldn't spend much time there. The purpose of the trip was to celebrate Grandpa Shrader's life. He passed away in March at the age of 85. He lived a great life and there were many people to help celebrate.

Of course, L was the main show. She amazed everyone with her personality and words. And she did a good job of remembering everyone's name that we spent the weekend with. She had fun swimming, watching movies and reading books. Even though the trip was short, I got lots of reading done (btw, the prime of jean brodie wasn't that good) and my mother-in-law and I got pedicures (awesome!!!) I love spending time with Jeff's aunt and uncle and on this trip we also spent time with his cousins. Great people! Brian and Kim are going on a 6 week journey to Asia this fall. Good luck to them!!

What the ????

Tell me, what doesn't belong in this picture? Well the pool belongs, the chairs belong...oh wait!! The ORANGE CONSTRUCTION CONE....does it belong???

This is a funny from our friend and it was both funny and surprising. But you know what? After dealing with all the construction for the past year....I'm not giving it back!

Got me a Card Reader!

Ok, I have said many times, I'm not a tech junky. But I do get tired of not having pictures regularly and then I don't feel like blogging. So last week, my good book club friends said, "link and upload!" Unfortunately, I am really disorganized at home and threw away the cord for the camera. But Comp USA was kind enough to suggest a card reader. And it works!!! And it's easy for me to use. So expect a lot more blogging and pictures to go along with it.

We just got back from LA late last night (11:30pm). I am trying to put the house together and do laundry. I'm sharing this sweet picture of L and daddy, but you'll have to wait for more pictures later.
