Bingo Night

Tonight we went to L's school for bingo night.  We had a great time.  We won 8 free meals from Two Brothers BBQ, a lunch box with recipes and toys, and L won a science experiment with one of her teachers.  Here she's hanging out with her friend Maddie.

It's Been That Kind of Week

I rarely drink pop at work now.  I am definitely a coffee drinker.  But today, I was craving a Diet Dr. Pepper.  It's been a long and stressful week.  I'm looking for some relaxation this weekend.

Party Time!

L had a great birthday party.  She invited 6 (7 year old ) girls and Kam.  They started off the night telling each other what they did over Spring Break while they had pizza.  Charlotte, the face painter came and painted each girls' face.  She did a wonderful job.  The girls looked beautiful.  There were four Hello Kitties, one Angry Bird, one Batman and two butterflies.  Afterwards, we had pinata breaking, presents and cake.  I forgot to take a picture of the cake.  Whoops.

After all that fun, the girls (minus Kam) headed to the basement to watch a movie, snack, visit and come up and down the stairs about 100 times.  Around 12:30 AM, I hearded them downstairs and we watched a little Disney TV and it was lights out.  But the girls didn't really fall asleep until 2:00 AM.  8:00 AM came awfully early.  The girls were wiped out and so were we.  In fact, we all fell back asleep for 3 hours!

Cabela's

Today, we went tooling around town.  L had a well child checkup.  We went to a junk store for two hours.  I wanted to check out Cabela's (Jeff and I had already been).  I really liked it, but my first comment was, "Cabela's looks exactly like Bass Pro Shop".  Jeff agreed.  It will be a nice place to go shopping for camping stuff and Keens.

Sweet amd Seven

Sweet L turned seven today.  She had a great day.  Red Robin for lunch (so they could sing Happy Happy Birthday to her), Justice (for a new outfit), Build a Bear (found a new bear with her birthday money), Best Buy (to get her new favorite toy, a Kindle Fire), Chik Fil A (just opened last week) and cake.  I would say that is a super duper good birthday!

Tuesday Fun

Last night was another fun night.  It has been raining for three days and I didn't feel like cooking.  So we went and ate BBQ and it was delish!  We headed next door to the liquor store and found these cutie wines.  They are significant in that we saw them on Shark Tank.  The sharks didn't buy the product, but they have figured a different way to sell it.  Can't wait to try it.

Sam's Find

So I'm a little slow in posting.  The "kids" are on break and I worked Monday and Tuesday, which means we did lots of things in the evening, so my blog time was cut.  But that's okay...I had tons of fun.  On Monday, Jeff and L went bowling with the Loving's.  Then we all met at Mulligan's for some excellent pizza.  Jeff wanted to check out Sam's so we all went over.  L found something she'd been looking for weeks. Big Toosie rolls.  She likes Tootsie rolls, but she really wants the packaging to make a house.

Lazy Saturday

L's been a little under the weather, so I took advantage by reading and watching the tourney games.  It was nice to slow down.

L's Skating Party

Tonight, L went to her school's skating party.  She had a wonderful time.  In fact, she wore herself out.  I caught the tail end of the party.  She wasn't too excited about my picture taking.

Too Much Fun For Pictures

O and her mom came over tonight to make rainbow fruit treats and shamrock tortilla chips for the girls' birthday party tomorrow. They are birthday sisters, born 2 hours apart. And tomorrow is the last day of school before break and their birthday is over break so they are sharing the day. We had so much fun cooking and chatting that I forgot to take a picture. Oh well. The memories are in my head.

Today we went to see the Lorax.  What a great movie.  I love the colors and pep in the movie.  And it comes with a very profound plot.  My favorite part?  When Once-Ler is taken down the river on his bed and Pipsqueak (the baby bear) sneaks on and they all have to save him.  You gotta see it!

Tommy's

Last night, Jeff and I had a date while L was at a birthday party.  I thought we'd go back to Tommy's, a restaurant out west that's old school.  Unfortunately, the new owners are making it more hip, so there's not much to write about the meal (although my sweet potato gnocchi was delish).

But Tommy's reminds me a lot of a restaurant in Lawrence called Nabil's.  I'm not sure what entralled me more as a kid...the fact that it was underground and dark.  Or the Shirley Temples.  Or the calamari.  Or having my dad's friend, Jim, take us out (it was the only time we went).  But I loved that place, especially the memories.

I Thought it Was Raining....

...but actually it was hailing/sleeting/something this morning.  What weird March weather.

Carrot is a Jew

Nah...he's just happy to be out of his cage and eating brussels sprouts.

My Little Chef

L loves to help me cook.  Last night she decided she wanted to all the cooking and I could be her helper.  We made shrimp and pineapple fried rice and it was good!

Season in Lent

As we all know, Ash Wednesday was 12 days ago.  L and I started going to church at the beginning of January (part of my discipline program).  We went to two churches and in the second one, found a good home.  We've been going to Calvary Methodist.  We love it because there are lots of kids and we love Pastor Greenwood.  He's awesome and makes newcomers feel right at home.

So fast forward to Lent.  I sat for a couple days at the beginning about what I should give up for Lent.  I researched some about why one is supposed to give something up for Lent.  The purpose is to sacrifice something as Jesus sacrificed for us and spend time pondering this.  So I decided to give up Twitter.  And you know what?  I've really enjoyed it.  I love Facebook because it's less time consuming and those people I converse with are friends.  But Twitter is purely social media for me.  And time consuming.  Since I've given up Twitter, I feel like I have more time that I devote to my family.  I use the time to meditate and enjoy the silence.  The funny part was, I went to Twitter last week to see what was going on with the school board meeting on school boundary changes and after sifting through it all, I realized I could easily wait until the next morning and got up to play with L and Jeff.  I'm not sure I'll go back to Twitter after Easter.

This One is for You, Dad

Rosco (aka Oreo) decided he was bored while sitting in the bathroom this morning, so he chose to rip a hole in the door.  Hopefully, he won't make a hole through the entire door.  Doh!!!

It's Ember!

This little baby is 10 months old now.  We were delivering girl scout cookies to her mom and dad.  L was very excited to see her.  Ember is so cute!

Move More, Eat Less: Month 4

+4.

It's the same as last month, so at least I'm not gaining.  I only exercised 9 times in February...not good.  I reviewed by goals and didn't meet that one, but I have (almost) successfully given up on eating L's food. That was really hard, because I subconsciously do this.  The other was keeping track of what I eat....that lasted a week.

Okay, so I have two goals this month:
1. Exercise 15 times (I have 8 weeks til my 1/2 marathon in OKC, so I'd better get cracking)
2. Eat only when I'm hungry and eat slowly so I don't over eat.
