Hot Chocolate 15k

Sorry about the break. I took a pause because I was dealing with some stuff.

Hot chocolate 15k was in KC in mid November. It was a three loop a around the Arrowhead and Royals stadium. Fun but kind of mind numbing.

Spinach Tortellini Soup

This soup is soooo good! And so easy! It’s a Six Sisters meal. They always have the best recipes!

Here’s the lowdown:

See?!!! So easy! You’re welcome!

Turkey Trot 2019

This year I joined Team Beef. I’m proud to be a team member but I was so busy with other stuff that I didn’t get to a race. Until the turkey trot in town. I chose to do the 2 mile. I had some running burnout after Chicago and it took me a bit to get back into the swing of it.

Running with my BFF, Deena, is always the best.

The race was good. It wasn’t too cold. It wasn’t raining. And it was only two miles so that was nice!

Caturday 1/04/2020

This is the easiest post of the week. I have more time and the girls always are up to something!!

AJ loves sink water. I don’t even fill their water dish because she needs a faucet and Scully drinks from the dogs dish.

This is a face I see often. It says “let me, feed me treats, see how cute I am!”

Last weekend I cleaned out Diego (the leopard gecko)
cage. AJ was “helping” and now she needs to check her cage out regularly!

Until next week!

Time to Read Thursday!

My 2020 goal is to again read 52 books. Last year I read 53. I read all sorts of stuff. Memoirs are my favorite.

Currently, I’m reading this:

I’m about 100 pages into the book. It’s good! Susan’s words flow well so even though there are differences in time, I can place myself in the book which is always my goal! I’ll post more next week!

What’s Up with Us!

Since today is Wednesday-I get to talk about my family!

Lauryn:

She started HIGH SCHOOL!!! I can’t believe we have a freshman in the house. She had a successful first semester. I think she enjoys not having as many rules as middle school. She played volleyball this fall, learned how to drive and got her learners permit and is going to play softball this spring.

Jeff:

He started his 13th year at South HS. No, they don’t go to the same school but that’s okay. These two share lots of stories about HS. He also teaches at Butler CC part time and stays so busy!

Kathryn:

I ran A LOT! 1100 miles for 2019. I’m grateful for my body that moves any time I ask of it. I ended my running streak in June. More on that later. I’m still working in pediatric neurology (21 years strong!) and
still enjoy it immensely!

Lucy:

My sweet girl. She has found her voice (to our dismay) and barks too much! And she has learned how to pop the gate open and sneek upstairs. She’s still the most easy going pet we have.

Oreo:

Oh Oreo. He’s still trying to understand why he can’t be the alpha (Scully holds that title). He loves carrots, laps and belly rubs.

The girls (aka AJ and Scully):

They are sisters from different parents and love each other unless they are too close and then it’s “back off” time. Curious little girls!

2020: A New Year and a New Decade

Wow!  What a year 2019 was.  I became an ultramarathoner, ran the Chicago marathon and felt like I was running all the time!!  Which is good, but also, I felt like I put other things on the back burner.

I'm going to continue to run but don't have any plans for a race this spring.  My goals this year are to focus on improving my self discipline.  There are some things that come easy to me (like my job) but others which are hard and I choose not to address them (like my nutrition, cluttered home, etc).

I'm going to try to be more diligent about posting here.  One of my 2020 goals is to minimize my social media time.  Some times it's fantastic, and I enjoy sharing my life with others and see what others are doing, but as we all know, it can be a horrible time suck.  So I want to work on improving this.

My general goal posts (so you know when to read and when to avoid if you don't like my topic)

Monday: Metal Monday-I'm going to work on re-capping my races from 2019 and discuss running related topics.

Tuesday: Time to Cook!- I will be talking about what we are eating, my goals in cooking and include a recipe.

Wednesday: What's Up with the Welches: some may be re-capped.  We are not the most exciting family lol

Thursday: Time to Read!-I will discuss what I'm reading, what's on the TBR list, etc.

Friday: Recap the Week!-Discussing my fitness this week.

Saturday: Caturday.  Because my girls are adorbs and this is the easiest post for me to do!

Sunday: rest.

I want 2020 to be a productive year.  It's time for me to take charge of life and not let it slip away!
