It's Not a Hint

I got a couple new Ben and Jerry's flavors and opened this one the other night. Jeff's first comment was, "is that a hint? Am I a Chubby Hubby?" No honey, but it is some good ice cream...peanut butter pretzels and chocolate mixed together. What could be better than that?

A Warm Meal on a Cold Night

Yesterday I put a roast in the crockpot along with carrots and potatoes and had a wonderful meal waiting for me. It was so good! I used beef stock instead of water for the liquid and the results were perfect. And there's even leftovers for roast beef sandwiches!

My 1st Indoor Triathlon

Yesterday, I participated in my first indoor triathlon. I had a great time! It consisted of a 500 yard swim, 6 mile bike, and 2 mile run. I felt like I did well for me. My time was 54:45. I am a little sore today. I'm sure it will be worse tomorrow, but I'm taking a day off.

Project 365

My magazine subscriptions.
Taken January 1st. Good old Jack.

My beverage of choice.

So this year, I have joined a group of scrapbookers with Project 365. You take a picture a day and journal about it. There was a really cool kit that Creating Keepsakes put out but it sold out before I got one. So I'm making up my own. It's been fun. I have taken some different pictures than normal and try to think outside the box.

These cookies are the best!

I. Love. Cakesters. They are the best cookie that's come along recently. But I can't eat one and a package is a whopping 250 calories. So when Nabisco said they were coming out with 100 mini cakesters I shouted with joy! I know...they are little and three one bites for 100 calories, but it so satisfies my sweet tooth. Thank you Nabisco.

Back to Routine

Today starts Jeff's night teaching gig. So L and I went to Michael's and Walmart to do some scrapbook and grocery shopping. We ate at L's new favorite place, Spangles, which I don't mind (their turkey on pita is good). We watched Tinkerbell and read two books. After I put her to bed, I grabbed a diet Dr. Pepper, switched on the computer and turned on Grey's. I am three episodes behind, but I am ready to catch up. I love Grey's!!

WSU beat Creighton!

I know this post is a couple days late. I've been in shock. The Shockers were 0-5 in the Valley and Creighton is good. This game is always my favorite of the year. I love Dana. And I really love beating Dana. We got great signs (blue jay and Dana) from Dave this summer. I embellished them a little :) The noise was fantastic in the arena and the Shockers finally played like a team.
Final score: WSU 74 Creighton 61.

What a beautiful day!!

I really had to pinch myself to believe it was 59 degrees today. L and I had a great time (daddy was watching football at home). We went to the library and stocked up on new books, got paper at Scrapfunattic and popcorn at Vic's (they make the BEST popcorn). Then we washed the car and finally stopped at the park. We had so much fun!! L played on all the equipment. She loves the slide.

Goofy girl

So we went to Hobby Lobby earlier this week to pick up some scrapbooking storage containers. We also discovered that all the Christmas stuff was 90% off. That's a hard deal to pass up on. I got some new lights, red ribbons and this little silver candy cane tree. L thought it was perfect as a hat so she rode around HL singing and wearing her goofy hat.

Rainbows in the closet

A long time ago, Betsy did a post on how she organizes her clothes by color. I thought it was a great idea! So that weekend, I did just that...

I was amazed at how much I own and all the colors of shirts I have. I put my Shocker shirts to the left, then started on single colors. I love opening my doors each morning to be greeted by a rainbow. Thanks Betsy!

A Great Quote

So I've talked a lot about my fitness goals and I gotta say once more how much fun it is to be fit. I love to run, I love that I can recover quickly and I feel energized.

Last week, I was searching for a motivational quote and I found it. This quote is by my friend's father (Jim Ryun) and it's perfect for my fitness goals.

"Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going"-Jim Ryun

How perfect....I use to say, I have to exercise. Now I look forward to my next workout.

Working on the Goals

So far, I'm doing pretty good at my 2009 goals. I've been eating better and except for last night (mexican always gets me), I haven't stuffed myself. I am doing great at my "me" time and I love it. Jeff and I have watched movies and played video games and I've gotten in plenty of scrapbook and reading time.

Here's my new scrapbook tool for the month. It's a new adhesive. Now I love my hermafix adhesive, but one of the ladies Saturday suggested it. Very easy to use and it works great for ribbon and heavy items.

A Busy Day

Yesterday was a busy day for us. We started it off with L having Avery over for a playdate. These girls see each other every day, but having a chance to visit each other's house is a dream come true. They played for 2 hours and had so much fun. They were even kind enough to give me a cheesy smile.

After Avery left, I headed over to my favorite spot, Scrapfunattic for a class. I took 'Album in a Day' and in four hours I created 16 pages. It was so much fun!! I met three new ladies who were all very nice.
Here are a few of my favorite pages from the class. It was a Christmas themed album.

When I got home, L wanted to eat out so we had mexican at Monterrey Mexican Grill. Very good. Then Jeff and I watched 'Vantage Point'. It was pretty good. Different.

My Wish

Now that the holidays are over and I'm not planning on going anywhere for awhile, I want a snow day. Not a 1/2 inch snow on the ground, make a mess of the streets, but a real bonfide snow day. Where there's no school kind of snow day.

This wish started two weeks ago when I bought a snowman kit (has everything but the white stuff) and a block maker for forts. Now I wait. And wait. Don't get me wrong...I love warmer weather, but I just wanted one big beautiful snow day (you know, the girl has to take pics!).

I'm Sick of Being Sick

I have a cold. I hate colds. I hate them because they make me unproductive. I hate them because I'm tired all the time. And I really hate them because they make me obsessed with figuring out how I got it in the first place. And what's the point really? Does it make me stronger in the long run? No....it's just a waste of time.

Rockin' in the Roundhouse

L loves to dance at the games and this night was no exception. She's really got the head banging thing down.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Here's a video from my Flip. L does a good job on Twinkle Little Star, while Adam plays her Hannah Montana guitar. I gotta tell ya though, I'm still not used to the screeching!

My Little Girl is Growing Up

L,

I can't believe how much you have grown up in the past few months. Your 4 year old birthday is just around the corner. You have always been a happy girl, but it seems like you've matured lately and the whining is less and the manners are kicking in. We are so happy that you are a sweet girl who's always thinking of others.

Love, Mom and Dad

On a side note, here's my girl "blogging" at the Apple store in KC. That's what she calls doing anything on the computer. Go figure.

All These Gadgets

I found it funny when Sunday morning I was reading Denise's column in the paper about technology. I was just thinking about that. I have an Iphone, a Canon Powershot, Nike plus and now this Flip Video. It's hard for a girl to keep track of everything!! I love my Flip. It shoots great movies (I'll try to get one out this week) and automatically downloads to You Tube. It was a great Christmas gift.
Now I just have to learn how to fit them all in my little purse!

Sunday Night Blues

Sadly, the vacation is over. I worked a little of it (3 out of 14 days) and it's all been fun and busy. I woke up this morning with that same old college dread of "tomorrow's Monday". Don't get me wrong, I love my job....but I love staying up late and sleeping in and playing with Jeff and L. I think Jeff's feeling it too. He's pretending to sleep and I asked him if he was meditating or psyching himself up and he said, "yes".

Today was also kind of a drag because it was cleaning day. But it's all done and the house looks nicer. I even had time to make some cards and stamp. Hit one resolution...use a new scrapbook tool. Not really totally new, but I haven't gotten my stamps out in over a year.

Off to bed and a nice early wake up call tomorrow.

Celine Dion: great show!

For Christmas, Jeff bought us tickets to see Celine. This is a show I've wanted to see for years. She was supposed to come to KC in Nov. and I couldn't go, but luckily she had to postpone. She didn't disappoint me. The show was great with lots of lights and special sound effects. She talked to the audience and even gave a couple fans hugs. She's so friendly! I knew every song but one. She sang for almost two hours. I am thrilled that I was able to see her live. Thanks, honey!

I Phone (I love it!)

The wait is finally over in the Welch house. We picked up our Iphones today. The guy at AT&T was the best salesman we've ever had. I played with mine all afternoon while Jeff drove us around town. I joined Facebook yesterday and am addicted to it and all the other web features I can look at. Tonight I figured out how to add my apps. and it's CRAZY!! But that's okay, I'm in love with this phone.

A Big Day for L

So we went to AT&T first and L was great. She watched Alvin and drew. Then we proceeded to drive around town and look for cases (for Jeff) for 4 1/2 hours. And L was good the ENTIRE TIME!! We walked all through the mall and so did she. We were amazed. Not one whine or crying fit. So we treated her to Build a Bear Workshop (aka kiddie crack). She picked out Hello Kitty. The folks there are really nice. L got to help and then pick out clothes for Kitty. We even made a birth certificate.
L was thrilled to have her own Hello Kitty doll. We were impressed. Although $37 was gone from my wallet, the smile on her face (and ours) was priceless.

And yes, Jeff did find a case for his new phone so all is good.

Frosty 5K and some Wii time

Sorry I didn't blog on the first day of the year. We had a great day and got home at 12:30 am! I started off the day by running in the Frosty 5K. I did great. Ran it in 28 minutes 31 seconds. I felt good about this race. I ran 5 races last year and my goal this year is 6. So one down and I'm planning to do an indoor triathlon at the end of this month.

I fixed some yummy tacos and T came over to exchange gifts. L got Where's Waldo books. I had totally forgotten about him. She loves I Spy books. Waldo will be fun to get into. Jeff got a really cool Rocklahoma book from their trip there last year. And I got a cool vegetable box full of recipes.
For dinner, we headed to the Loving's. We ate pizza, visited for awhile and played Wii. The boys played Monopoly for a couple hours while I learned about Facebook from Maria. Then we headed downstairs to play the new Rabbit game (can't think of the name). It was hilarious!! Loved it!
So it was a great way to bring in the New Year!
