Christmas prep

The family is gone, I've shopped for my Black Friday items, so now it's time to move to Christmas. L and I spent yesterday afternoon on this craft (thanks to Betsy!). We took pine cones, put Modge Podge on the tips and glittered them. What a fun craft and what a mess! We both had lots of fun and laughs.

We also decorated the Christmas tree today. It didn't seem to take long to put up the tree. I did that part and the lights and L put on most of the ornaments (when she could peel herself away from iCarly). We had a good time discussing the ornaments and what was special about them.

Here are the two ornaments my mom made for us. For 15 years, she has been stitching ornaments for me every year. When Jeff and I got married, we'd each receive one. Now that L's here, she gets her own and Jeff and I get one together. I love the ballerina ornament she made for L.

This is my favorite ornament that my mom has made for me. It plays music and reminds me of my childhood.

More pictures to follow, I'm sure. We're trying to finish up the decorating this weekend.

Thanksgiving Day

This year, we hosted Thanksgiving. We usually go to my grandparents, but they needed a year of rest so I offered to cook. It was my first time cooking a turkey and I have to say it was very easy and the turkey was delicious! Grandma helped me with the gravy and stuffing and pies, while I made green bean casserole, mashed potatoes and cranberry salad.
Jeff did an excellent job of carving the turkey (another first). He saved the drumsticks for his leftovers.
Look at that spread. No one left the table hungry.

L was a little under the weather so it worked out well that we were home. She took an extra morning nap and that seemed to get her through the day.

Grandma and I headed to Michael's after the others left to do a little shopping. And I headed to bed relatively early to get ready for Black Friday. It was a wonderful Thanksgiving to have everyone over to see our new home.

Week in Review

This week was a busy one. Too busy to really take pictures, so I'll just chat.

Sunday: beautiful day. L and I went for a walk and then to two parks to play on the equipment. It was also a great day to watch some football and take a nap.

Monday: My 35th birthday! I took the day off. I slept in, then went to my Favorite scrapbook store, Scrapfunattic and shopped a little. The next errand? A mani and pedi. Ahhh....luxury. I had a nice piece of salmon and salad at Dillon's and grabbed a few items for supper. I scrapbooked and watched TV for a few hours, then fixed supper for 12. That evening, Trans Siberian Orchestra was playing in town. The show was awesome! My day was great!

Tuesday: I got the dreaded phone call from school. L had a temp. Bummer. So she hung out with me at the office.

Friday: we went to the South-Heights football game. South lost, but we still had a good time.

Saturday: L's friend has been over and Jeff and I have been chilling. Love those kind of weekends.

Halloween at Work

This year at work, the staff decided they wanted to do a group Halloween theme. So they decided to do Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. I was asked to be Snow White. Kristine was the wicked witch. She was the best!! I loved her makeup. And the nose with the wart was perfect.
Here's a group picture. The girls did such a nice job of adding their own flair to the dwarf ears that everyone wore. It was a great day!

Halloween Night

I was so happy that Halloween fell on a Saturday. I wouldn't have to hurry up and finish work early to grab dinner and get L in costume.
Kurt, Kasey and Kam and T came over to our house. Our pre-trick or treating dinner: boo-gers and mummy dogs (as well as fries and apples). The kids were almost too excited to eat.
L got together with her friend Avery. They were both from the Disney line. Ave was Sleeping Beauty and L was Tinkerbell.
Kam and L let us take a few pictures before they went out. Kam was Thomas the Train engineer. He was great. L looked so beautiful in her costume!

The kids had a great time. They were out for two hours and went to 30 houses. L was so excited that she filled up her entire pumpkin bag. Jeff and Kurt had lots of stories about the houses. Kasey, T and I stayed home to hand out candy. There weren't many people in the beginning so we took the truck to the end of the court and handed out candy. At least we got rid of all of the candy!
It was a beautiful night. 60 degrees and not rainy. It was great!
