L turns 5!

Can you believe our little girl turns 5 today? Crazy I say, Crazy! Today starts the week long birthday celebration. Today, we three spent it together. We started the day off with cake and presents from Grandma Linda and Grandpa Ed, Aunt Linda and Uncle Steve. L loved the cake and blew out all her candles in 3 tries.
Here she is opening her presents. She got new clothes, a new game, Fashion Plates and a sprinkler (which she was actually excited about. Hopefully she's outgrown her fear of water). Of course, she tried on her clothes immediately after we were done. Tonight she has requested Red Robin (it's her favorite place, they sing Happy Birthday, AND she wants to use her gift card from Grandma Linda and Grandpa Ed). Tomorrow she gets to take cupcakes to school. It's good to be 5!

Bon Jovi and Intrust Arena

Intrust Bank Arena opened up in Wichita in January. I am one who thinks the extra sales tax went for a great cause. So far, Jeff and I have been to 3 concerts. Bon Jovi was good, but we both realized that we're not huge JBJ fans, especially of the new stuff. We saw Elton John and Billy Joel in concert together. That was an awesome show!! They played together, separate and then together. Oh, I love all of their songs. And while we were high up, we still had good seats.
The last show we saw was Jeff Dunham. We took L with us. We loved it! We all enjoy Achmed the Suicide Terrorist, Peanut and Walter. If you haven't seen Jeff Dunham, YouTube his videos. You'll be cracking up!

Dallas 1/2 Marathon

March 14, 2010 I ran 13.1 miles. Wow, even I'm impressed with that sentence. I've been running for awhile but the longest distance I've gone is 10 miles (Turkey Trot 2008). I decided that I'd like to do a 1/2 and a full marathon in my lifetime. So when Jill asked me last fall if I wanted to join her and Mitzi in the Dallas 1/2, I thought "sure". I wasn't great about training. I did my long runs every Sunday, but the weekdays were hit and miss.
So on a beautiful crisp morning in March, I joined 11,442 other people to run 13.1 miles. The race path was gorgeous. They went through neighborhoods with huge houses. The residents often stood and cheered us on. We ran by the Grassy Knoll, old historic hotels. There weren't too many hills (which was good).
Here's my metal for running. I did really well until mile 11. Then fatigue kicked in and I had to stop and walk several times. And the last mile seemed to take FOREVER. And all these well meaning people were saying, "you're there" and I couldn't see the finish line and it was all I could do not to get frustrated. But then it was over and I was so thrilled!! I snacked on PF Chang's, bagels, bananas.
Mitzi and I posed for a quick pic. I was exhausted at this moment and was trying to figure out how I could lay down! I'm so glad I did it. And my next race? Houston Marathon 2011.

My First Craigslist Post

Since we got L's new bed, we need to get rid of this one. I thought I'd try Craigslist and see what type of response I get. It was super easy to use and get an account. I hope the bed sells quickly!
