Muffins with Moms

L's school had a special treat called Muffins with Moms. Mom (me) comes to school in the morning and we eat a muffins and share a moment. In the fall, they have Donuts with Dads. It was pretty fun. The weather was nice so we ate outside and listened to the school orchestra.

Chili Time!

It's 52 degrees outside, rainy and generally icky. I decided instead of hamburgers, I'd fix chili. Within 15 minutes, the house smelled delicious. Toasted hamburger buns as bread completed my meal.

I Have A Sharpie Addiction

Yes, I love Sharpies. Fine and extra fine tip please. The color palette always does me in. I know I'm weird. I'm okay with that.

C and S Take the Stage

We love Carrot and Squeakles. While they hang out in their cages most of the time, they get to come out some. They always fuss in the beginning and then decide it's not too bad. Spoiled pigs.

Squeakles loves his spinach. You can kind of see his tooth.

Carrot and Jeff are computering.

These two are good buddies.

The Mexican Finale

Okay, I think I'm going to take a break from Mexican food for a while. I still like it, but don't want to get completely burned out.

We finished our tour at Chuy's. It's in Fort Worth and it was delicious. The margaritas were also yummy.

Jeff had Elvis Green Chile Fried Chicken. A chicken breast that was fried with a potato chip covering and a yummy tomatillo sauce. It was really good.

I had Chuy's Special. Blue corn tortillas filled with chicken and a green tomatillo sauce. And a side of green chile rice. Man, was it good.

Belly Dancing

Tonight we watched Brande perform in a belly dancing show. Two hours of dancing was great! She did a great job as did the others. What a fun night.

Easter Fun!

We celebrated Easter at the Holman's. The kids decorated eggs and then hunted eggs. Abby and L had a great time playing together. They are about 5 months apart.

She is having a blast.

Soccer time!

We watched Jason play soccer this morning. It was a cool morning. Watching four year olds "play" soccer is quite humorous. He really likes to play.

A Good Friday

Today was a great day. We hung out in the morning and I read and tried to understand how to play Angry Birds. Then we headed to the theater this afternoon to watch "Rio". What a delightful movie. The story was great and the animation was beautiful and colorful.

Afterwards, Brande and I headed to the spa. She got a pedicure while I headed over to get a french manicure with shellac. It's supposed to last 2-3 weeks. I'll update later.

Finally, we finished the day with Uncle Julio's. They have homemade tortillas, great fajitas, and yummy queso. What a great day!

My MexicanFest Continues

Oops. I forgot about this place. Taco Cabana. Home of the best tortillas EVER! I had a couple tacos, a well needed and deserved margarita and some fresh homemade tortillas. I love the salty taste and how it melts in my mouth. Yum!

Not Just Yet

I've been in a Mexican food rut, which I thoroughly enjoy (until I'm sick of it). Last night it was Jose Peppers, lunch from Chipotle and supper was at Margaritas. I eat different dishes, but it's the salty chips, margaritas and salsa that I crave. While I'll go off my kick for a day, I'll finish my Mexican food tour this weekend at Uncle Julio's, home of the best tortillas ever.

Book Report: The Other Wife

Yawn. I was not at all impressed. I thought this book was about a kid who had a tragedy and how the family came together. And it was, but I kept wanting to stab my eyes out it was so boring.

Don't wasted your time.

Car show

Saturday, we headed to South High to check out the car show nl and I stayed for a short time as we were busy picking up a birthday cake and dance pictures. Here's a couple cars that were at the show. I love the orange one.

Jeff's birthday Dinner

My sweet husband turned 38 on tax day ( well, the usual tax day). As per his request, we had dinner at Kobe's. It's a Japanese steakhouse that we enjoy but only go once a year. Dinner was spectacular as usual.

I suck at Blogging

Okay... I'm a slacker. I have no legitimate reason that I haven't blogged in 10 days. But now, my taxes are done (whew) and I've taken several pictures, so I promise tomorrow night, I will give you some updates.

Nite for now!

Book Report: Girl in Translation

This is Jean Kwok's first novel and it is wonderful. Kim and her mom move to America from Hong Kong. Kim's aunt puts them in a horrible apartment and pays them a measly amount to work in the factory. She hardly speaks English when she's enrolled in school. But with time we all see how intelligent Kim is and how she adapts to her new life.
**** out of 5 stars.

Going to the Prom

Last Saturday, we went to the South High prom. We had a great time. L danced the night away while Jeff took pictures. The evening was so nice and the girls looked beautiful in their gowns.

Ariel and L. L loves Ariel and will cry when she graduates next month.

Dancing with her new friends.

What a beautiful princess!

Colored Bubbles

Crayola came out with a new toy...colored washable bubbles. They might wash out but man are they messy. L and I had stained hands and we messed up the sidewalk. Oops! Don't think we will be using them again.

Stupid Allergies

This spring my allergies have been awful. I've hardly been able to wear my contact lenses because my eyes are so dry, then watery and itchy. Hopefully the trees will quit blooming soon and I'll feel better.

Beggar

Every night (and day), Reggie begs for food. No wonder she's so fat. I'm impressed she hasn't exploded.

Rent a Senior Day

I can tell the end of the school year is approaching. Prom is coming up and there other special events for the seniors. One of those is rent a senior. Teachers pay money to get a senior and they can have them dress up any way they want (it raises money for senior breakfast). This year Jeff rented 9 seniors and were Pac Man and the ghosts. They were cute. Here's a video.
