Taste and See Event

On Friday night we went to a Via Christi Women's event at a local restaurant called Taste and See. It's open for lunch and in the evening, he has different events. I had so much fun. The food was delicious. It was so cool to see him put everything together in front of us.
The chef:

Sangria: it was so good. Light and fruity.

Black bean hummus for an app. I was quite surprised at how good it was.

Maria eating cheviche. I was on my second glass of sangria so the camera was a little shaky. :0

Dessert: heaven in a box. There was pineapple compute with coconut cream and the box was an allspice bread.

And the most surprising? After five courses, I wasn't stuffed because I tasted what I wanted and stopped when I was full.

Hanging Out on a Nice Saturday Afternoon

It was 74 degrees Sat. AM and the dogs spent the majority of the day outside. I tried to entice them in after they'd been out for two hours and they looked at me like I was crazy. But if I had a nice comfy chaise to lay on...

Swimming Lessons

L took swimming lessons this summer. She loves lessons after she gets in there. And she's getting better at swimming and she's more confident. We'll definitely keep up the swimming this fall/winter.

Lucy, Lucy

Lucy. She is a funny dog. I'm still figuring her out. She is the second place dog and she's content with that decision. She often hangs back a little.
But just when you turn your back, she figures out something cool (like drinking the water out of the fountain).
My sweet girl. You are a wonderful dog.

The First Day of 1st Grade

L was excited to start school today. She woke up at 6:30 this morning (an hour before she's supposed to get up). We had breakfast, watched TV, curled her hair and waited for the bus. She looks so cute in this "before" picture.
She took the bus and I met her at school. We found her locker (I forgot to take a picture), found her seat and got her settled in before I left. She was a little teary eyed when I left, but I knew she'd be okay.
When I got home she told me all about her day. She had so much fun. I'm looking forward to a great year!

The Night Before School

Our tradition is ice cream (or froyo) the night before school starts and then dinner after the first day of school. L was excited to try Peachwave. It was really good. She's excited to find out who is her 1st grade teacher. I am ready for her to go back. I've gotten what I want to get done before the craziness of school starts.

Profile of Lucy

Lucy is a hard dog to photograph. She is so black and her eyes are jet black so it's hard to see her and catch her personality well. Having said that, I did get a few good pictures outdoors.
She loves chewing on the bush stumps we have in our backyard.

She definitely has a personality. She loves to run and check everything out. She likes to do things...on her terms. She's most certainly a woman.

Swimming with Oreo

Oreo went swimming with L and Ave a few weeks ago. He had just as much fun as the girls did. He was exhausted afterwards.
