Busy Sunday

Yesterday was a nice day. The snow was melting. The girls had cookie booth sales. They sold 77 boxes of cookies in two hours. Dillon's was crazy busy yesterday with the impeding snowstorm.



After we got home,L begged dad to help her make a snowman. They used Oreos for her eyes Nd mouth and a carrot as well as L's hat and scarf (extras). They finished at dusk.

High School Wrestling

Last night we went to 5A/6A state wrestling tournament. I've never watched high school wrestling but have wanted to go watch. The tournament was great. We watched lots of great wrestling and the South High boys did well. Three of four made it to the semifinals and two of them pinned their opponent.

Snow Day!!

Oh it has snowed a lot here. I think we have gotten 10 inches so far. Work was very quiet today.


Lucy LOVES the snow. You can see her body just left of the railroad tie. She begs to go outside then tromps all over the back yard. This is her kind of weather.

Relative Visit

Aunt Rita and Uncle John came through town last night. We had a great time visiting with them. They have lots of stories to share.

Big Shoes, Little Shoes

L and I did something new this weekend. We both went to the YMCA and exercised on the ellipticals together. She has been so excited to use the grown up equipment and I got permission from the Y for her to join me on cardio as long as I'm with her. On Saturday she made it 30 minutes. She was pretty tired afterwards. But she begged me that night to take her again Sunday. So we did and she lasted 35 minutes and I had to kick her off. She did well and really enjoyed it. I foresee many workouts together. Which makes me happy.

Saturday Groom

Today Lucy got groomed. It's the first time since October and she needed it badly. I forget how little she is when she has been shaved.



Melissa, the groomer, has a whole house of pets. Marco, the parrot, is our favorite with the kitties, Gerry and Chitty coming in second. She has two dogs and two saltwater tanks with beautiful fish and coral.

Lent

Today is Ash Wednesday, which starts the season of Lent.  When I was a child, we never observed Lent because we weren't practicing Catholics (and those were the only people I knew that observed Lent).   After joining the Methodist church last year, I did observe Lent by giving up Twitter.  And surprisingly I did well and didn't go on Twitter (except to check in on school board meetings).  I spent the extra time with my family and spent the time reflecting on Jesus and religion.  I felt at peace.  And I haven't spent much time on Twitter since then.

So this year I've spent time thinking about what I will give up.  I am giving up negativity.

Now I'm an optimist at heart.  I think positively most of the time.  But I am guilty of making negative comments, snarky comments and complaining.  So I am going to work on using kind words.  If I don't have something nice to say, I will be quiet (that will be so hard!).  It also means I'll have to work on patience (which is a virtue I don't hold well).

Irish Beer Shake

After last night's game we went to Red Robin. I got something new. It's called Irish Beer Shake. Guinness beer, whiskey, and ice cream. It was delish!!

School Picture Day

L was so excited for picture day because it means she doesn't have to wear her uniform. We had to compromise on what she was wearing. I wanted something "too dressy" and she wanted something she wears around home on the weekends. But in the end we were both happy.

When L Packs Her Lunch

Last night L packed her own lunch for tomorrow. She is eating a hot dog with a bun, ham, an apple and pudding cup. Interesting combo but pretty healthy.

L's Room Makeover

L decided she wanted her old bed back. Mary was nice enough to let us keep the dresser so she has plenty of places for her clothes.
Reggie got to hang out with us and the dogs (they were on the ground). She loved it!






Did you know if you take off the doors to the closet, it automatically makes it a walk in closet? I had no idea until L told me. ;)

Cookie Kick Off

Tonight was the annual cookie kick off. The girls can officially sell cookies tomorrow. L had a great time at the mall. She got her face painted, practiced selling cookies and saw her friends.
