May Challenge

Me in my new Boston shirt.


So I'm doing a challenge with friends called the Squat challenge. You start Day 1 with 50 squats/day and end the month doing 250 squats/day. I think there are 4 days off in the month.
Whew. I hope I can keep up!

Breakfast Alternate

As I've posted before, my breakfast is generally ezekiel bread with PB and bananas and egg beaters. But sometimes I mix it up. My alternate to go is yogurt and oatmeal. Another delicious combo if I must say so.

OKC 1/2

What a beautiful day!! The sun was shining and the temperature was decent (a little warm, but I won't whine). I didn't really train for this half. I thoroughly enjoyed myself even though my time wasn't great. 2:58:34. Eh. But mentally it was one of the best runs I've been on.

It's a New Sport

L's friend, Ave is on a softball team and invited L to join. She was excited! The first practice was today. She did a great job fielding the ball and hit it several times.

Baptism

Last Sunday, April 21 I was baptized and confirmed at Calvary United Methodist Church. It was an awesome experience. L stood up with me. Several co workers came to the service. It's hard to put into words how I feel.

Big Truck Tacos

Lunch today was delish. A local joint which also has a taco truck that drives around town. I had two delicious tacos with shredded chicken and beef. And they had several homemade salsas.

Kobe Steak

So while it was hailing, I was enjoying a $95 steak. 8 oz. Kobe filet. Thank goodness I was attending a business meeting. But I have to say... It was damn good. Melt in your mouth good.

Hailstorm

Last night it hailed while I was at dinner. It started off pea size then progressed and hailed for more than 5 minutes. I didn't have any broken mirrors or windows but the side of my can got dinged.


I don't really understand the purpose of hail.

Running

This week has been hard. I know there is a lot of violence which I try to block out. But Monday's bombing at the Boston Marathon was hard to swallow.
Really dumbass? Bomb a marathon race. Where people have spent months training for, years qualifying for. These people run 26.2 miles for fun. On their day off. Why?
Such a senseless act. First of all, runners don't succumb to adversity. We life for it. So bombing the marathon won't make us stop running. It will make us more determined. And Boston? One of the few major cities where every body is friends. You won't break Boston. You just made them more determined.
This event reminds me I run for many reasons. Health (physical and mental), friendship and to run for those who can't. I love this new shirt that came out from the local running company. I run for those who can't. And I'll won't quit because of two idiots.

Hard Charge

Today was my first time volunteering at a race. It was fun! Hard Charge is a mud race. 5 miles with 20+obstacles. I was at Hit the Wall (they have to climb over) and Through the Woods (over/under logs). There were lots of people. It was a little chilly but time flew by.

Happy Easter!

We went to CVille for Easter and had a great day. The weather was beautiful. We hid eggs for L to find. Then she did the same for her dad.
