Naughty Dog

This is the face of a dog who ran away not once, but twice today.  Once while the sitter was at the house and we had to call in reinforcement.  So she's kenneled for the night. 

OKC 1/2 Marathon

Okay, so this is a marathon of pictures today to finish off April.  This is a picture of Dave, me and Steve after we ran the 1/2 marathon in OKC.  This was Dave's first 1/2, my 3rd and Steve's first official 1/2 (he's run a couple relays).  The course was beautiful.  It ran by the OKC memorial, downtown, by the Capitol and OU Medical Center, then through all sorts of neighborhoods.  Gorgeous scenery.  And the support was awesome.  There were water and Powerade stations every 1.5-2 miles.  At mile 8, they also had GU and bananas and orange slices as well as wet sponges.  It was great.  There were many fans and a great cheering section.  The weather was cloudy, humid and 70 degrees until mile 12, when it started to rain.  But it wasn't a hard rain, so it turned out well.  I will be back there next year.

Ember Turns 1!

Our sweet friend Ember turned one this week.  She had a cute Cookie Monster birthday party.

Titanantics

Jeff, L and I went to the annual Titanantics on Friday night.  I thought it was a really good show.  Lots of singing.  There was a great dance routine.

Update on the Pool

Here's what it looks like as of today.  It's all prepped.  We are just waiting on the liner to show up and then it will be colorful!

Pearl and Her Baby

Mother Goose at dance has been nesting and getting her babies ready for this world.  Yesterday, one goose was born.  Cute little guy.  His mama was protective.

Reading

I thought I'd post while waiting on my video to upload.  I love to read.  I love to escape in a book, to have quiet time, to learn something new.  I love posting what I've read and counting how many books I've read this year.  But the Bookshelf on my blog often makes me laugh. 
Currently reading: 'Run With Me'.  That's true.  I'm over halfway through with this book.  But next up is 'Lost Symbol' and want to read 'Proverbs 31 Wife'.   Let's see: that might have happened if I hadn't gone to the library yesterday and seen four new books I wanted to read and picked up (hey they are free!).  Next on the list is 'Iron Heart' and 'Christmas Wedding' and 'Inventions of Hugo' and 'Wonder Struck'.  I predict the Lost Symbol won't get read for a couple months.  And I just checked my Nook.  I have 76 books on my e wish list.  Hmmm....guess I need to get busy!

L got her modern dance pictures tonight.  She looks so little compared to the other girls (she is the youngest in the group).

No Cavities Today

L went to the dentist today.  She got a cleaning and they fine tuned her spacer.  No cavities for her (probably because they are almost all filled!). 

My Expensive Kitty

This is Reggie.  Yep, she got a trip to the vet for the day.  She's been peeing right in front of the litter box.  UTI...nope.  $100 blood panel.  I'm sure it will be normal.  The vet declared her fat and maybe anxious.  I say, she's being a brat.  Good thing I love her.  And maybe, just maybe, for a few days, she'll pee in her box to say, "please don't take me back to that awful place". 

Botanica

 Today, the girl scouts went to Botanica, our local garden showcase.  They have a new children's garden....beautiful.  I love these peonies.  There were tons of them. Eric Carle's creatures were featured.

He's 39!!

 Jeff celebrated his 39th birthday today and we had a party last night.  Yes, in the middle of the storm.  Lots of friends, food and beer made it very enjoyable.  I love his cake.  Red velvet...yum.

 Star of the night?  Miss Ember.  She's almost one years old and so adorable.

Today, I spent the day with my grandparents.  Grandpa has renal failure and met with a new nephrologist about the possibility of dialysis.  Luckily, he doesn't need it yet.  They are such a cute couple.

Having Fun at the Park

L played at the park for a few minutes after Girl Scouts.  Here she is mastering the monkey bars.

Easter Fun

 L woke up to find out the Easter Bunny spoiled her (that bunny!).  She got candy, a slap watch and two Bondi Band hairbands.  L says, "The Easter Bunny is like Santa.  He's been watching me, knows I'm good and I really wanted a Bondi band".  LOL.  We went to Easter service this morning, where L was more squirrly than normal (Jeff can't believe I take her if she acts like that!).  I fixed lunch complete with ham, pasta salad and deviled eggs.  Then I napped :)

Later this afternoon, the neighborhood had their annual Easter egg hunt.  L had a great time getting candy.  She knocked an egg off the tree limb and it fell right into her basket!

Easter Sun Run

I ran a 10K this morning.  Since Jeff was out of town this morning, I had to figure a plan out for L.  Judy's daughter was kind enough to spend the morning with her.  She and L ran the first mile, then walked and took shortcuts to finish the same time as I.  My run was good.  It was cloudy and a little misty (Pittsburgh rain), but that didn't deter me from finishing well.  What a great way to start the day.

Move More, Eat Less: Month 5

I joined Weight Watchers a couple weeks ago.  Counting points isn't as hard as I think.  And I feel a lot better since I've been eating more fruits and veggies and less sugar and carbs.  I haven't moved much last month. 

So my one goal this month is to keep at WW. 

A Little Mess

Yesterday, the power went off for 2 hours during the rainstorm.  No sump pump=water in the basement.  At least it's a small area and is easily fixable. 

Hanging Out with Uncle John

Uncle John came for a visit tonight on his way to Russell.  It was eventful...when John got to our house the power had been out, the basement flooded a little and Jeff had to return to school to finish a project.  But after supper, some Orangeleaf, we settled in for stories and laughs. 

Big Changes for L

When I went to school (as best as I can remember), everything seemed to stay the same.  L is in first grade and she has and will experience some big changes.  First, the old building she attended in kindergarten and two months in 1st grade was torn down and they got a brand new building.  Now, the school board has decided to move everyone at her school to north east Wichita so she'll start in another brand new school this coming fall.  Yesterday, they announced our principal is leaving for another school.  I am so sad about this...I love the current principal.  She runs a tight ship, which I am all for.  I hear L's new principal is also very good which I'm glad.  And at the same time, my job isn't to reflect my concerns to L but to reassure her that it will be all right.
