This weekend we went to Fort Worth to visit our friends Nick,Brande and Jason. Nick and Jeff went to Austin to see KSU whip Texas and the rest of us went to the zoo. We had a wonderful time. L loved it all, but she was fascinated with the monkeys and rhinos this time.

After the zoo and a nap, L and Jason played around the house. He is adorable!! L loves to entertain him. They helped "cook" by hanging out in the bouncy seats. We finished the weekend by eating brunch at Blue Mesa. This place has the best brunch ever!!!

I.Hate. Stealers.

Why can't people leave others alone??? My bank card got denied at Walgreen's tonight, because someone in god-knows-where put an unathorized charge on my account. Luckily, my bank rocks and caught it early. I asked Jeff, why they can't mind their own business? He says "that is their business". Well shame on you people....preying on the honest. That's just downright pitiful.

I love pouty lip!

L has been perfecting the pouty lip for a few months. And she does a very good job. She looks so cute. The pouty lip always starts seriously, but then she laughs. Today's pouty lip orginated after I told her she'd have to remove the Elmo band-aid in the bath.

The Three Mascots

I really wish I had the picture but I couldn't find it on Intrust Bank's website. But the story is too good not to share.

This weekend, L and I were in the car and she screamed, "It's WU, it's WU!!!". Now I know she's talking about WU Shock. But I couldn't see the board. We turned the corner and she screams again, "It's WU AND WILLIE!!"

So if you live in town, you know this board. I asked L, who's the other guy in the picture? She pauses and says "um...that's the bird"

So folks, the state mascots, Wu, Willie and that bird.

Potty Training

I have to say that I'm amazed. We've been working on potty training for 3 weeks. A very long time ago, I thought she would accomplish this in a day. Silly me. But she is getting the hang of it. This weekend she has mentioned several times that she has to go. And tonight I spied on her...she can do the whole process...including clean up. I know you all don't care (and no, Maria, I don't have any pictures), but I am in awe of how much she can learn.

Meeting Spongebob

Today, Spongebob was at All Star Sports. When I told L we could go see him, she was thrilled. I'm happy, but cautious. Most of the time, L loves the idea, but freaks out when reality hits. But today, she saw Bob and was so excited. And when we were up close and personal, she was happy to say hi. She gave him a high five and let me take several pictures. She's growing up!

Shoot 'em Mr. Woodcock

Last night, we got a sitter and saw a double feature. We spent the evening at the Warren and ate at the diner in between movies.

We first saw Mr. Woodcock. In the previews, this movie looked like School for Scoundrels, which I love. Overall the movie was okay. There wasn't enough slapstick rountines between Billy Bob and Seann William. I'd give it 2 1/2 stars out of 5.

The second movie was Shoot 'em up. This movie was really good. Lots of action, lots of shooting. Pretty amazing what Clive Owen could come up with. We all liked this movie pretty well. I give it 3 1/2 stars out of 5.

My sweet girls

How sweet are my girls! L loves to play with Reggie. And Reggie's starting to appreciate L more. Reggie was in awe of L's Dora band-aid.

High and low

Today I had two highs. First was this morning, when a patient's dad told me how much he respected my clinical judgment and whatever I recommended, he'd follow. If only all the parents could be that kind.

My second high was L pooping in the potty!!! I think we'll be going to Chuck E. Cheese soon!

My low: although Dave's mom is stabilzed, her condition is still guarded. I hope she starts feeling better soon.

Need prayers

Our buddy Dave (from Omaha) called today with bad news. His mother passed out this morning and had cardiac arrest. When we talked to him tonight, he said she was stable and he was driving to see her. Please say a prayer for Dave and his family. He needs lots of good vibes!

60-10

Yesterday we headed to Manhattan to enjoy the KSU-MSU game. The weather was interesting. It was 58 degrees at tip off. The temperature stayed the same thruout the game but it was chilly. The cats played well. L had fun shaking keys, visiting with others and climbing the stairs.

Halfway over

I finished my 5th week of the workout challenge Friday. Jill is also doing great...she finished her 6th week (I was going to run last Sat and it was raining). I'm glad I have this to motivate me because when it's so dark in the morning, it's hard to get up.

D.I.S.G.U.S.T.I.N.G

Tonight we saw Halloween produced by Rob Zombie. While I'm a fan of Zombie's music (he's coming to town in December), I think he's way too gory in the movies. House of 1000 corpses made me vomit and I had nightmares for a week. Refused to see Devil's Rejects. But when Jeff wanted to see Halloween, I agreed. I kind of like the stupid horror movies...just make it fake enough so I don't get grossed out. Halloween was a mix of both. I gagged a couple times in the first part (which seemed very Zombieish), but when he became adult Michael Meyers, it was good. So hats off to you, Rob. But it was still disgusting.

My new sewing machine!

I am SO EXCITED!!! A couple weeks ago my mom and I were talking. She (again) reminds me that I need a sewing machine. She did some research and found a Jenome for me to check out. So I did. And it was really cool. When I told her how much I liked it, she gave it to me as a birthday/Christmas gift. Mom...YOU ROCK!!!! I played with the machine this weekend and it is so cool. The stitches are beautiful. I might take up quilting now!! (yea, like I need another hobby). Well, I'm off to try it on my scrapbook layout. Thanks again mom! I love you!!!

New uses for the elmo bed

Usually the elmo couch is folded up so L can sit on it and watch tv. Tonight, L decided to lay out the couch. When L turned her back, Haley jumped right on it. By the time L figured out what happened, we told her that she had to share with Haley. Who would want to move a sleeping dog???

I love her smile

L is such a happy girl. This is the face of a girl who just found out we were having "popcorn" (corn on the cob). She loves corn on the cob.

After lunch, L said the baby needed a nap (not her of course, because she's a BIG girl). So she laid out her pillow and covered the baby with her favorite blankie. What a sweetie!!

Delicious!!

I love my crockpot. The pot rocks! (okay, that didn't come out like I meant). I love the fact that you can put all your ingredients in one pot, turn it on and when I get home, dinner is done!!!

Tonight, I made mix it and run chicken. It was so good that I'm sharing the recipe with you. I couldn't believe how moist the chicken was. What a perfect comfort meal for the first crisp day in September.

Mix it and Run Chicken

2 (15 oz) cans green beans
2 (10 3/4 oz) cans cream of mushroom soup
1/2tsp salt
4-6 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Drain green bean juice into a medium bowl. Add soup to green bean juice and mix well. In the crockpot, add the green beans. Add a little salt. Then add the chicken. Add a little salt. Then pour the juice/soup mixture over the chicken. Cook on low for 8-10 hours (mine was there 11 hours....perfect). Serve with warm bread and enjoy!

Mustard Face

This is what mustard tastes like to a 2 year old. L wanted to try the "yellow stuff" and we warned her that she wouldn't probably like it. Since we said that, she was more determined to try it. And it was sour. But she tried it at least 3 times. What a crack up!

Happy 83rd birthday, gpa!

Seriously, traveling with a toddler is amazing. These are all our "carry on" bags. I didn't include our two bags of clothes and the pack and play.

This weekend we traveled to C-ville to spend time with my grandparents. It was grandpa's 83rd birthday. We had so much fun eating out, scrapbook shopping, watching bad tv and hanging out together. And grandma's cooking is always delicious!

The Happiest Place on Earth

Ahh...I love Target. The stuff, the people, the red. Everything about Target is wonderful. I probably spend too much money there, but the place rocks. One of the things I really enjoy is the wide aisles and the fact is not everyone and their dog is at Target. And the kid clothes. L has most of her winter wardrobe complete. Who can resist $2.99 tshirts?? And don't worry, whatever I can't get at Target, I can now get at my neighborhood Dillon's (which is quickly becoming the second happiest place on earth).

I'm so happy!!

My high today is reading on my friend Amy's blog that her unborn daughter's chromosome tests came back normal. Yea!!!!

Today went by fast. My other high was that everyone got along at work. That makes my day better. My low...forgetting until 8:30pm that the dogs need a bath (they are so itchy) and thinking, I don't want to do that tonight. Poor dogs.

Coffee and donuts

Jeff's starting a weekend tradition of going to get coffee and donuts. He heads to Dillon's in the morning, grabs a couple Starbucks caramel macchiatos and then to the donut stand. L loves sprinkles on her donuts, I favor chocolate frosted donuts. It's a great way to start the morning off.

A sad day for KSU fans

Last night was the KSU-Auburn game. We headed over to Pat and Linda's to feast on ribs, cheesy potatoes, green beans and cupcakes. Delicious meal. And the game was good until the end of the 4th quarter. KState led the whole game, but then handed the ball Twice to Auburn and subsequently lost. Sad day. Hope the rest of the season gets better. L had a blast playing with Emily all night. I think they went up and down the stairs a hundred times!

Cupcakes!!

This morning, L and I made cupcakes. She's been excited to do this since we bought the cupcake liners last week. She helped put the liners in, pour the batter, frost and sprinkle the cupcakes. I know it takes a little longer (as Amy has mentioned) but it's so worth them helping and it gets L to try new things.
