1st Spring Project Done

If you remember my earlier post with L riding on the flat of bricks, this is the end result. I think the mini patio looks so nice. Now L has a nice place to play without worrying about getting dirt or poop on her knees. Thanks Jeff!!

Now on to the next project....

Fun in Texas

We spent the weekend with our friends, Nick, Brande and Jason. We had a wonderful time in Fort Worth. We arrived Friday afternoon and spent the evening watching Nick play sand volleyball. The kids played at the playground. We ate at a wonderful Italian place called Margie's.

Saturday we ate lunch at Uncle Julio's and then headed to the Ballpark at Arlington. We watched the Rangers lose to the Twins. We bought tickets that put us in the all you can eat section....for free!! Yummy!! We had lots of hot dogs, nachos, soda and peanuts. All free....no catches!!! It was a beautiful night.

Jason had a great time running around the park. He loved all the action!

On Sunday, we went to a really neat park. L had a great time climbing everywhere and swinging. It was cold and cloudy, but the kids didn't care. What a happy girl!! She swung on a tire swing for the first time. She thought it was neat!
As you can tell, I didn't do so well on my weigh in for the office biggest loser. Guess I'll be eating a lot of salad this week!

Sheryl Crow Live in Wichita

Tonight, we took part in great history. Sheryl Crow performed at Century II. What a great venue and she did a wonderful job. We had awesome seats (thanks, Dan) and great company (Dan and Maria). Sheryl is a great performer and we all agree that we'd like to look that good at her age. She played all of my favorite songs, except Steve McQueen. But since that was the only one missing, I'll forgive her. She finished with Led Zeppelin's 'Been a long time'. Sorry, no pictures. I snuck my camera in, but the bouncers were pretty picky.

Before the concert, we ate at Uptown Bistro. Jeff and I hadn't been there before and it was delicious. I had tomato bisque and seafood crepes. This was one of the best meals I'd had in a long time. Maria really liked it too. She even had a happy plate. For those of you puzzled, I've known Maria for over seven years, and this is the first time I've seen her clean her plate.

Chucky Cheese

L's reward for potty training was to go to Chucky Cheese. And tonight was the night. She had soooo much fun! And so did we. We played games, L rode the rides and we won 82 tickets and she got several prizes. If you ask L, it was a successful night.
My favorite game is skee ball. I could lay that all night long. L had a great time playing this plane simulation game (she gets that from her great grandpa).

Artistic Cakes Rocks!

I LOVE Artistic Cakes. It's a local bakery that has a store on the other side of town, hence I never went there. But last fall, they opened up a store a block away from me. And I am happy to keep them in business. I have bought 5 cakes from them in the past 6 months and they are all delicious!! My last purchase was no exception. Jeff wanted a red velvet cake and L wanted it to have a monkey on it. From there, the creators went to work.
They came up with a great picture of George and even painted on palm trees on the side of the cake. I could never come up with this great of an idea, but I'm thrilled they do, so I get a great cake and great scrapbook pictures.

Jeff had a good birthday. We spent the night at home, grilled and played with his gifts.

70's Candy

Jeff received this cool present from T for his birthday. I'd seen it on Food Network, but never up close and personal. It included an entire box of candy from the 70's. There's a lot to eat!
I laid out some to show you the sample. We laughed at some items. Jeff said he wasn't allowed to eat the bubble gum cigarettes (yeah, I got those). Laffy Taffy...brings back good memories of picking stuff out of my teeth for hours.
Some things I hadn't heard of included Chuckles and Gold Mint.
Freshen up gum. Ahhhh...I loved this gum when I was young. The gooey center was delicious!

Spring Projects

You know it's spring when Jeff starts getting ideas of what to do at the house. This year's mini project is to put bricks down around L's play area so when she plays in the sandbox, she doesn't get her knees dirty from the ground. It also helps Jeff because he won't have to mow the area.

We bought 74 bricks to make this patio. L thought the trip was great as daddy pushes her around!!

Too bad the nice weather of yesterday hasn't persisted. I was going for a walk to stretch out my legs but the weather channel says it's 32 degrees out and feels like 23. Ick!! Maybe it will warm up a little later. I need the 70 degree gods to show their face!

2nd Race of the Year

Today I got up at the crack of dawn to run the 5K Run for Life. It was a chilly morning but the vibes were good. I was hoping to do well and i DID! I ran the entire way! I am so proud of myself. I didn't even get to the point that I wanted to walk. So my time? 32:24. And the impressive part was I shaved off almost 6 minutes from the Frosty 5K in Jan.
So my goal this year is to do five events. Two are done and the next is the 10K River Run next month.

Checking off the list

This week has been full of to do's. Luckily, last week was slow so when I'm sick, I don't feel guilty about doing nothing. I've been good this week and getting my stuff done. Taxes...done. Pay bills...done. Turn in my medical/daycare receipts...done. Need to make a file folder for my 2008 tax return so I don't do what I did this year (which was search for hours for receipts). After all this, I'll be ready to scrap and read a new book!

Off to see who got the axe on American Idol. Hope it wasn't David. I love him, but this week's song was baaad.

Biggest Loser

Boy, do I need to get back into blogging. I'm feeling much better, so no excuses there. I think you can read all about the Jayhawk stuff in Denise and Lori's blogs, and my team has been sitting at home for weeks.

At our office, we decided to play Biggest Loser. We put in $10 each and have to weigh once a week. For every pound you gain, in goes another dollar. I'm up for the challenge. And yes, I have some weight to lose. Plus, I need to get back into exercising regularly and eat better. The only bad part is weigh in day is Monday so I can't cheat much over the weekend.

So far (one week), I've lost one pound. I didn't exercise much (since the strep) last week but I've been eating better. And trying not to eat too much. This should an interesting 8 weeks.

The Body Invaders

So I had some good posting to do this week, but unfortunately I've been invaded. At first I thought it was influenza. Although she's not nice, fluen is easy to get over. But progressively my throat was hurting more and I couldn't eat much. Ibuprofen wasn't working. So I took the afternoon off (since I was soooo exhausted) and saw the doctor. She nicely told me that I had a body invader. His name is Streptococcus. Streppy is NOT nice. He left pus in my throat and gave me the aches. But a few hours after the antibiotics and steriods (yeah, 'roids) kicked in, I'm feeling a little better. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day.

I hate body invaders. I did not invite and they need to go away...quickly. At least it was mono. God knows, I don't have time for mono.
