2010 Word

Several fellow bloggers and scrapbookers talk about their goals and instead of making one big list, they use one word. Now, I like my lists and I'm keeping it there. But I think it's time for me to use a word to sum up my goals for 2010.

My word is:

PATIENCE.

Now if you know me at all, you know how hard it will be for me. I am not a patient person. I often claim that patience is not a virtue I hold. But really, I need to develop it more. And there are certain places and people I'm more patient with and really, I need to extend it. When I think of the word PATIENCE, I think calm and collected thoughts. I think how nice that would feel on a daily basis.

Now have a great New Year's Eve and a great 2010!

2010 Goals

Here's my list of 2010 goals.

1. Write a letter to a friend once a month. See previous post regarding this.

2. Lose weight by eating healthier, exercising more. My weight loss goal is 30 pounds.

3. Separate work and play better at home. I am good at leaving my job work at work, but I often don't make enough time to play at home. I always think, there's one more thing to clean, but I need to think, can it wait and be done with other jobs so you can play with Jeff and L?

4. Spend wisely.

5. Keep my blog updated. I love FB and Twitter, but I've been neglecting my blog. It's my digital scrapbook so when I do scrapbook, I have something to reference.

Okay. It will go up on my sidebar in a couple days and I'll give you periodic updates. Happy New Year!

2009 Goals: A Reflection

So I'm thinking, wow, a year has flown by. So much has happened it's hard to wrap my head around it. I am so grateful for all of the things that we've done this year, but I wanted to take a minute to see how I did with my 2009 goals.

1. Write a friend a letter once a month.
I sucked at this. And I really kicked myself hard because one of the people I was going to send letters to was Jeff's great Aunt Helen. She passed away this spring. So I'm keeping this one on the list and will work hard at keeping it.

2. Organize my "me" time.
For all that has happened this year, I think I've done a great job. I have scheduled reading, scrapping and computer time.

3. Remember birthdays
Doing much better. May be a few days late, but hey, I remember!

4. Use one new scrapbook tool a month
That didn't happen. I didn't scrapbook for 6 months while we were in the transition of moving and a couple months after we moved. But I am more motivated to try new things.

5. Eat healthier and quit overeating
Hmmm....some days yes, others no. I joined Weight Watchers online in November and lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. I was so excited and then Christmas came with all of its goodies. And I am back addicted to sugar. So I need to cut it out soon.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with my goals. I will post my 2010 goals tomorrow.

So Christmas was again wonderful. I have tons of pictures and I'm sure I'd bore you, so I added a video of one of my favorite moments.

Mom and dad got into town on Tuesday night. Had a nice evening playing with all of my childhood toys. Got up Wednesday morning, exercised, shopped and ate dinner at PF Chang's. The weather forecast didn't look good, so my grandparents came up a day early.

Woke up Thursday morning...dry but WINDY! Exercised and got home in time to see the snow fall. My in-laws were here by 10am and Uncle Ken followed in at noon. The weather got ickier, but we stayed nice and warm in the house. We went out for our traditional Christmas eve. pizza (and had to knock on the door so they would let us in). The weather got worse...blowing snow made driving a little crazy. Our Christmas lights session lasted all of one house and we were back at home.

Christmas day was great. We had a little breakfast then got down to the present opening. I think everyone was happy with their gifts. I love mine. I received a Garmin watch (have so wanted forever!), an angel necklace, Big Top cupcake and Perfect Brownie. My parents gave me all new bakeware and new knives. Yeah! I must have been good this year.

The family has all left. I have the house all picked up. The laundry has been started and I need one more day to get caught up, but alas I have to work tomorrow. Oh well.

Merry Christmas everyone!

The (Un)Fantastic Flu

Starting Sunday at bedtime, I feel some chills. I think the house must be cold. But no...it was the evil flu. He came and visited for three days. Chills that couldn't be comforted with five blankets to sweating so hard I changed shirts twice in two hours. And when I thought I finally got over it, the vomiting started. Good god! Let me tell you (if you didn't already know), I am not a patient person. I am not a good patient. I cry and whine when I'm sick because I don't have time to do that. I was so sick, I missed two days of work. The last time I missed that much work for an illness? Dec. 31, 2002 when I had an 8mm kidney stone. Yeah, I don't get sick much.

But there were two good things that came out of this illness. The first, I woke up this morning feeling GREAT and got caught up at work and cleaned up the house this evening. I love the extra energy. The second...tomorrow's FRIDAY! Woohoo!

Dance class video

Here's a little clip of L's ballet class.

Dance Class

This week was parents week at L's dance class. She's in ballet and tap again. She's doing really well and I'm glad we kept her in dance. I took several pictures and videos (will try to upload those sometime). She loves tap the best. I think she'll be a clogger when she gets older.
L is the girl with the blue ponytail. She jumps so high!

The ballet portion: they run and jump over the puppy.

She was proud to have us watch her. Her teacher is very energetic and fun. There are 10 girls in her class. We also got to see the costume for spring recital. It is SO CUTE!! It's hot pink with a tutu. Very girly and conservative.
