National Cat Day

Today I celebrate my beloved cat, Reggie. She is 16.5 years old. She has lived in three houses, dealt with four dogs and two guinea pigs, eaten more food than imaginable and given us so much love in return. I ❤ you sweet girl!

Weekly Chase #7!

Road Runner Girl

Last week was a busy one!

1. Exercise 4 days:  I actually worked out SIX days!!  I was proud of myself considering I went out of town.  Saturday was my rest day.

2. Stretch daily: YEP!!

3. Finish L's Halloween costume: Done!!

4. Pack: yes! I had a great time at Child Neurology conference this week.  We were so busy in meetings I didn't take any photos! Whoops.

5. Finish Invention of Wings: Yes!  It was good.  Long in parts, but I liked it.

This Week:

1. Exercise 5 days.  I would really like to start a streak, but I am not sure I have the stamina to do it.

2. Stretch daily.  No excuses.

3. Enjoy my last few days in my 30's.  My birthday is Sunday and I've spent time reflecting on the last decade.  10 years ago, I was pregnant with L!!

4. Get caught up at work.  It's always nice to be away, but there's a lot to do when I get back.

Girl Scout Birthday Party

Tonight the girls celebrated Juliette Gordon Low's birthday (the Girl Scout founder).

They also dressed up since its Halloween week.

And learned to sew in a button.

One Bread, One Body

This morning L sang in all three church services. They came up with movements to a hymn. It was neat to watch them in sync.

Fall is Starting (sort of)

The leaves are changing even if the temperatures are not. I love the red and orange colors.

On this morning's walk, I saw tons of crabapples.

Gorgeous colors!!

Pumpkin Fun!

We had a gorgeous day at the Pumpkin patch. The weather was perfect. The kids played on the inflatables and rode a pony. They were beat at the end.

Karleigh wasn't sure about the bouncy house.

Kam and L joust it out.

L and Max swinging on giant tires. They were so cool!

Beerfest!

2014 happened yesterday. I was happy to volunteer. All the glasses are lined up to drink.

The biggest beer in the place.

Jeff and T were first in line. This happens when you go with your wife at 10:15 and hang out.

The line was more than a block deep.

Quick selfie before the event.

Weekly Chase #5

Road Runner Girl

What a crazy week this has been!  I feel like the week flew by!

Last week's goals:

1. Work out 4 days.  Yes I did.  Two 4 mile runs, one spin class and a 1/2 marathon.

2. Stretch every day.  5 days I did this.  Really need to get better.

3. Clean the shower: yes.  It doesn't look perfect, but significantly better.

4. Finish L's costume:  Found a couple pieces but it's not done.

This week's goals:

1. Exercise four days.  I am taking it slow as I just ran 13 miles yesterday.

2. Stretch daily.  I have no excuses.

3. Finish L's Halloween costume.  I need to get this done as I will be out of town the following week.

4. Clean the garage: I want to get it organized so I can park my car in it before the cold weather sets in.

Fall Prairie Fire 1/2

Today I joined a bunch of people and ran 13.1 miles. I think this was my 6th 1/2. The day was beautiful. It started off at 46 degrees. Much better than the spring half.

After some photos with Ragan and a trip to the potty, we were off. My goal was to do better than the spring (2:52) and be consistent. I decided to run the first three miles and then interval 2 minutes running and 1 minute walking. We did intervals last week in Denver and I thought it would be worth a try. As you can see it was a great idea.

In fact, I plan to train to do running intervals. I hear from the experts that intervals help keep you fresh and more consistent, but in my mind I think "if I walk that much, I'll be so slow". FALSE. No instead I run at 10-11 minute miles and walk 14 min/mile. And I end up being more consistent. And the mental chatter was gone. No "oh my feet hurt or my spot in my back aches" or "oh my God. We have 6 more miles to run". Instead, I waited for the cues to run and walk. I listened to my body better to know when to fuel it. And I was mentally charged at mile 12 when I was still running and everyone around me was walking because they had hit the wall. I'm very proud of myself today. It was one of the best 1/2s I've had.
