Recap of 2015

What a year it's been!

I've ran a full marathon, two half marathons, 3 10K and a few 5K's this year.  I started a running streak and have completed 220 days!  If you'd asked me a year ago, I wouldn't have thought that was possible.

L is in 5th grade and loves it! She is doing well academically and socially.  Over break she went from one house to another for sleepovers.  She is also becoming more responsible.

Jeff continues to work his a$$ off teaching and molding students.  He always has funny stories for me.  He completed our backyard project this past summer and it looks awesome! He also got a motorcycle so now he has a new hobby.  The bike is a lot of fun.

Oreo and Lucy: still two of the sweetest turds ever.  They melt my heart and drive me crazy (and often at the same time!)

Reggie: my sweet girl lost her fight to cancer.  We had a great 11 months this year.  She would torment the dogs from upstairs, meow so loudly when it was feeding time and sprint to L's bed every night for a drink out of the yellow cup.  This past month in hospice care, especially the last week, was hard, but I'm glad we were able to say goodbye.

Overall, everyone was healthy.  L is finally going off of one of her seizure medications.  I am so grateful for our life.

Here's to 2016!!

Princess Reggie Catches the Rainbow Train

My sweet, beautiful kitty, Reggie, went to Heaven today. She graced us with her presence for 17 1/2 years. She taught us so many lessons and made us laugh out loud many times. She could melt your heart with those beautiful green eyes and purr. I am sad she's gone because I love seeing her every day but I know she's in a much happier place with Ditto and Haley. L was sad but she did well through this process.

I leave you with some photos.

Thank you sweet girl for all the memories. You will never be forgotten.

Love, Mama

Fitness Friday: December 18th!

It's been a busy busy week!  I started last weekend off by joining my running friends at Yia Yia's and then we went on a limo ride and looked for Christmas lights.  It took us an hour before we actually saw some!!  We had the best time-lots of laughing and carrying on!!

Saturday: after a late night, we got up early and ran the Santa 5K!  It was 48F and no wind.  All in all, it was a good run!

Sunday: dreary rain kept me inside so it was a quick mile on the treadmill.

Monday: I was tired so I ended up sleeping in and ran a quick mile on the mill.

Tuesday: Out in the cold for a good run and walk and lots of chatter!

Wednesday: It's been cold here so we ran inside Koch Arena and then went to Shocker Fitness and Extreme.

Thursday: outside again.  29F but no wind.  Unfortunately, I bit the curb and torn my nice long pants.  I'm hoping my mom or grandma can mend them next week!

Friday: inside Koch, Shocker Fitness and lots of shenanigans going on.

Fitness Friday: Dec 11

What a week it's been! The weather has been outstanding for December.  We saw Garth Brooks in concert (out of this world!). We hit our 200 day running streak this week.  Wow!!

Saturday: a quick mile in the morning.  I had so much to do this day I didn't have time for more.

Sunday: since I didn't get to bed until 2:45 in the morning, I had a hangover (and didn't even drink).  So it took me until 3 pm to recover, then I was blessed with a wonderful 55F day!

Monday: a little more chilly and Tami's hip was hurting so it was slow, but done.

Tuesday: I met with the ladies at Bradley Fair for our run and walk.

Wednesday: back to Shocker Fitness

Thursday: day 200!! We ran two miles and then headed to Dunkin Donuts to celebrate!!

Friday: another beautiful morning for running and Shocker Fitness.

A New Friend

Last Wednesday (12/2), L and I got home just like any other Wednesday and put away the groceries. Lucy was super loud and driving me crazy after they went out so I had them come in the kitchen door. She was still barking so I look out the living room door and see this:

Oh my! He was so sweet and friendly. I checked and the gate was locked, the fence was fine. I checked his tags-only rabies tags, no name. We drove him to the emergency vet and they checked for a chip- none. They said, you can keep him overnight or take him to the shelter. Well there was no way he was going to the shelter. Back home we went. We drove around the neighborhood. No luck. Asked the neighbors. Still no luck. I decided he was going to spend the night. He came in, ate some dinner while Oreo and Lucy checked him out. L was freaking out while they were feeling each other out but after 10 minutes "Coco" told Oreo he was going to be #1 and the pecking order was decided. It was all quite humorous.
Coco was a sweet boy. He sits and shakes on command, doesn't bark much and is very interested in people food. He was more than happy to lay at my feet.

L and I decided to keep him in the guest room. We slept in the bed while he laid on the floor.
The next morning, I found out his families address and he lives a court away!! His name is Dexter. We took him over and they were so happy!! We got a pet smart gift card and kind note that he wants to come visit us again! I bet he does!!

***so what we figured out is when the hot tub repair guy came to fix the hot tub, he opened the gate, did his thing and then when he left locked the gate. While it was open Coco/Dexter had escaped out of his fence and wandered into our yard and was in a different part of the backyard and so he wasn't seen and got locked in. Luckily, it was decent out (40F).
Crazy!!!

Fitness Friday: December 4th Edition

See-I am getting back to normal.  It's been one crazy week-but that's another blog post.

Saturday: It was cold and icy so I had to run my mile on the treadmill

Sunday: the temps were still cold, but I had to run on the mill two days in a row so I decided to go for it outside.  It was 34F and no wind.  There was ice on the trees which was beautiful to see and hear and the roads were clear.  I was so glad I went outside!

Monday: inside for Shocker Fitness so we ran around the concourse and then went for SF and extreme

Tuesday:  a very chilly walk and run and then headed to DD for breakfast and coffee!

Wednesday: back inside!  Shocker Fitness was brutal.

Thursday: a little nicer (34F) and not as windy.  We had a great time window shopping after our workout

Friday: Chilly (34F) but calm.  Road detours made us all late so we ran the track, went to Shocker Fit and Extreme.
